It does not help really....but all you can do is add a LEED-AP along with your other credentials on your visiting card. I am a structural designer so its of very little use for people from my fraternity....but since my company does structural designing as well as institutional and industrial planning and architecture I may actually be able to use it some day. You can actually find the companies which have LEED-AP's on the IGBC website...may be you can get more info from there!!
I am actually a USGBC accredited LEED-AP. Although there isn't much of a difference between the material, I would recommend you go through a couple of blogs and websites which give you free material for preparation and it might actually help understanding the twists and turns during the test. I dont remember the name of the website or the blog but you can just type 'LEED preparation material' and you may find everything. Secondly refer the websites of Rinker School of University of Florida...they may have some good stuff on Dr.Kiberts webpage. Hope this helps. Goodluck.
Take a look at IGBC website and you should be able to find all the material required. Primarily you should aim at giving the LEED for NEW Construction exam. The exam can be given through any prometric center. You dont really need any books. It is just the material they have on website. LEED exam is actually more about mugging and cramming stuff and does not require too much of thorough understanding so I believe the given material is good enough for clearing the exam. Hope this helps. Good Luck.
